The Smashbox primer as been talked about EVERYWHERE, especially on YouTube, blogs and amongst my friends. So considering that I felt like I had a lot of knowledge about the product and for the longest time I wanted to try it out…
Luckily for me one day I was out shopping in Boots as I normally do and one of the Smashbox girls asked if I wanted to try and the sample. Obviously as I was previously considering buying it I said yes without hesitation. Previously I was using the ‘Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser Primer’ and I love it, till this day I still go back to it, its my holy grail primer you could say, but I wanted to try out something new.
As soon as I got the primer I started testing out. For the first week while using it, I thought it made my makeup look flawless and made it last a little longer. A little background to my skin is I have combination skin and I tend to get oily around my T zone, especially around my noes a chin. Anyways back to the primer, after a while I was starting to notice that my skin was looking a little dry and my pores seemed to stand out more. This was 2/3 weeks into using the primer and I had forgotten I was testing it out as it was part of my daily makeup routine. So I was talking to my friend about my makeup and how it wasn’t looking as good as it used it. This is when I remembered the only product I had changed was my primer.
Turns out this wasn’t the primer for me, it just didn’t seem to cooperate with my skin as I would have hoped for it. However, I think this would be a beautiful primer for someone with an oil skin type as it does a beautiful job in mattifying your skin and I noticed it makes your makeup last a little longer. It also has a smooth silky consistency which is nice when applying onto your face.
I should have given a little information about the product before my story, but I guess better later than never.
Purchase from: Smashbox Photo Finish Primer
Overall the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer I believe is a good primer however, it just wasn’t for me. If you’ve tried out this primer, give me your thoughts on it and I’d love to hear your recommendations on any other primers you think are good :)
